I got another internship. This one is with a small company that just started up which has a few cons and pros. Con being once again there is no money and pro being that it won't be very time consuming. Another pro is that it won't be doing bitch work. I'll be the go to video guy.
I have another interview tomorrow I don't know if it is paid(I'm applying to at least 20 job a day, it is hard to keep em straight) but it is to follow around a grammy nominated artist, Katia Cadet, while she finished her debut cd and it drops sometime this summer.
Also I made a new video, just shot around the neighborhood just to pass the time and ended up with this
also my final screening is tonight and I have another one on friday. I have some Canadian tv show that has asked to play my short film also. I applied for a few jobs as camera op. and have a few projects with some other students after graduation too. More on that stuff later
here is a quick run around tour of my new resting place in New York.
that is right my final film is shot and the 6 hours of shooting spread over two days went smooth. I looked at the footage for the first time the other day and I feel pretty good about it. There are a few shoots that are messed up and they are some pretty important shoots. One of the problems is that we can see a big reflection of the lights in a picture frame, I think I'm either going to zoom in and crop out most of the reflection or blur the edges enough where you can't make out the perfect reflection or maybe get crazy and try to mask it to make it match the rest of the wall...but likely it will be some sort of combination of all three.
The bigger problem is that when our hero stops time. It is done in several shots and one of them is when the street light turned on and everything is looking very RED. I don't know how much color correcting can be done to it or it the entire 'time frozen' sequence will have to have some kind of special color effect on it so it matches, that is going to be the key is making it all look like one shot, normally it would have been pretty simple minus this one that is really really RED.
The story if I haven't shared it yet; A simple man has a cubical job by day and is pretending to be a superhero by night. He is picking up litter and recycling, etc. He is serious about superheroing and once he has a chance to fight some real crime he doesn't disappoint. Inspired somewhat by

I also am moving this week, from Harlem to Washington Heights. Harlem, what can I say about you? I have had a good time and I'll miss Pee Dee's STEAK and had good times at the duck. I haven't seen the new place yet at all but I'm a simple guy and easy to please and I hear the place is really nice. I have had a good time sluming it in Harlem for a while but I guess I'm going to step my game up. I think I have met most of the roommates back during New Years Eve and Kevin played my superhero in my short film. I haven't been on that side of this island yet but I'm guessing it can't be much different.
School is almost out and I don't have much a plan to keep me here in NYC so I'll figure it out soon enough. I'm sticking to the plan of not having much of a plan I suppose. I'm just going to be a take the road and see where it takes me. I'm cool with that. I'm going to make an updated reel with all the work that I have done so far in my carrer and hopefully that can get me a job or at least some freelance stuff. I don't mind getting some lame job, selling hamburgers or something like that as long as I'm still working at making the dream happen, even if it is just making videos for the web with roommates or something. I just want to make sure I'm not a becoming a waiter/coffee boy/blockbuster rep/streetvendor/nurse/etc and not a filmmaker. I can be not a filmmaker in Reno or anywhere but I'm in NYC to make films or something similar something creative.
the story gets a little lost because of exposure/lighting problem.
so here is what you miss:
the newspaper headline is about the plane landing in the Hudson River in New York City on January 15th and then the camera moves to reveal a wet suitcase
I'll have to get copies of all the films I've been staring it because it is funny to see me in front of the camera, but what can i say the camera loves me.
Lets see, I have been running around like crazy the last week. The schedule is starting to age me I think but I'm still loving it. I haven't had a day where i wasn't shooting or editing in nearly 2 weeks, yes that means no days off. working on Saturday and Sundays. I'm having fun and learning a lot by making mistakes. My crew gained a new member this week Pedro is from Portugal and loves U2. He wont shut up about them, it is pretty funny so we give him so shit about it. I already am having to think about my final project and that is a little scary since I have no idea what I'm going to do. I"m not worried yet but by the end of the week I should start having a clue about it or else. We start shooing for our final on Febuary 11th.
I'm hoping that after school I might be able to work at the school as a TA. It seems like most of them are former graduates and just working part-time working on various projects. Sounds like it might be perfect for me so I can hang out in New York for a while after school is done.
I don't think I mentioned that I saw Paul Giamatti at BARNES AND NOBLE last week. that was my first celb sighting.
I don't think I mentioned it here yet(and am too lazy to look at my other post to see if I have) but I am moving at the end of February. It is kinda a bummer because I like being able to tell everyone back home "I'm livin in Harlem, bitch" but it has been up in the air until the other day. Albert and myself are going to be moving to Washington Heights and it will cut my rent in half and I guess the place is really nice but I'll be sharing a room with Al and that is fine with me since there will be a living room and a kitchen. So that is good news but I'm going to seem a lot less gangsta now that I won't be in Harlem.
On a bit of a side note Magic Johnson is everywhere here. posters, tv ads, radio ads. and it isn't even only about HIV/AIDS, I saw one for a tax service.
I found a church that I can handle going to. Its not home but it will do for now. It is kind of like youth group for adults, but really it has a good atmosphere

And I'm still due for one of those video blog update thingys haha but no promises. :P
