So that internship at MKTG with clients such as nike, pepsi, etc. I was set to start next week but I haven't been able to get the guy on the phone, for that last week and a half.
So I finally call the front desk and not his cell where I have only been getting voicemail. So I talk to him and he said he needed to do a second interview with me(i'm just saying call a me, I answer my phone). Anyway so he says come by and I was in the area so 15min later I show up. Walk in and the cute front desk girl remembers me and asks if I was finally going to be starting I could only reply "I know seriously, right? Not like there isn't work to be done for my salary of free." I make my way back and he is getting ready for his trip to Vegas(I didn't realize that memorial day was a big Las Vegas weekend for NYC d'bags) He runs out for a second and then comes back and says,
"you are the one who worked with david hasselhoff right?"
I said, "You mean Hugh Jackman? what does hasselhoff do haha."
"You worked with Hugh jackman? Really?"
"Yeah a good story actually, but I don't think I told you about it when we met last time. Anyway, what is going on with the internship because I feel like you don't have great news for me."
"Well two weeks ago when I was trying to get you to come in, the job got filled and now we are all booked on our interns"
"I don't quite understand becasue I was under the impression 3 weeks ago that I was starting then I showed up and the got told come back on the 27th and have been leaving you messages, maybe I don't have the correct number, did it change because I reached you one it once?"
"Sorry but we are full and hopefully this other person quits or something, so we can bring you in mid June or something, so give me a call around that time if your schedule allows"
"Well it allows now, because I have turned gigs down because I had this commitment I thought. I guess we will see in June. Good to have met you and sorry we didn't get to work together"
front desk girl says "bye I'll see you soon"
"doubtful, I got hasselhoff'd by a name dropper, bye"
So I walked across the island to union square to apply for a TA at New York Film Academy again(The squeky wheel gets oiled first)
I let myself be mad and shout swear words on the walk over Put on some music, but by the time I got there I decided it was just another funny story I get to tell about my rise(mostly thanks to kanye west's "Last Call" coming on in a shuffle, which is basically Kayne talking for 12mins about getting evicted out of his apt that didn't have a phone trying to pay bills with beats and until his deal with roca-fella and meeint Jay-z)
Good News
Basicly I have some more freedom and some shit is happening.
I am part of the Vance nyCC team, which is a brand new company who the prez is a hustler that has been producing records for the last 20 years (scarface)and everyone is from the Bronx, but me. Right now I'm basically working myspace sites spreading the word to possible clients but now that I'm on the team they are looking to start doing a lot of video. So basically I'll be the expert So I'll be building it from ground up like I have before. Yeah the company is new and isn't something impressive on the resume just yet but we all are getting the hustle on and it will be a happening quick.
I have a trial run next week in for an intern for Heavytone Records working on a behind the scenes documentary webisodes type thing for a grammy nominated artist (co-wrote "911" with wyclef jean) who's album drops in July. The big issue was I had this other internship(see hasselhoff) that was eating up three days a week. They were internested in my management from building the VCC media team for Vtv.
I got asked to take my shirt off at another interview today becasue my tattoo was peaking out and they insisted so I showed them. Looked up the company afterwards and Way out Productions is not taking its name from outdated surfer terms as I invisioned "way out bro, sick wave" but more in the sense of coming 'out' to your parrents that you are a gay/lesbian. Oh well, they have projects going then I want to be part of it.
Tuesday I have a freelance gig working for a catholic news station, NET TV. I have to go learn how to use their gear friday in brooklyn. I didn't think I would get the job becasue I didnt have a car. I don't really like journalism of stuffy religions (i.e. catholic) but I get to use some P2 cameras which I haven't uses yet, really I don't understand the hype Sony is shooting to Compact Flash cards which everyone already has readers for so why not use the estabished infrastrucure? Anyway I am shooting something about a catholic conference that teaches unwed fathers to be a good dad, It is called MAN UP. Should I tell them I have a sword from my MAN UP program and our marketing for it was sick with lions running around in the ads. see it here; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8foJkm49fr0&feature=channel_page of course made by yours truly.
Had another interview today, phone interview with asylum.com and lemondrop.com which are aol sites that are life style sites (men and women) that are going to be offering video this summer. They seemed very impressed with my demo reel(I need to add Huge Jackman to it) and it will be very hands on. I need to watch a tutorial on green screening techniques in Final Cut Pro so i don't have to lie about it. I forgot to mention that I worked with Hugh Jackman hopefully some other guy doesn't doesn't know Chuck Norris.
I shot a bunch of Cental park footage the other day I'm set to edit it saturday but I think I need another day of shooting becasue there is about half the park I missed, but I might just make an edit and change it later.
what comes to mind with I hear hasselhoff
I landed a sweet internship on Tuesday, unpaid so the job hunt continues for a little cash flow.

That is the company website. They have some major clients like Nike, jamba juice, and pepsi. I think it will be an awesome experience and opportunity. So far as I can it wont be much of a "coffee getter" position I will mostly be logging and capturing footage it seems. So that isn't extreamly excting but I'm hoping to show that I can handle a little more than and who knows it could become a full time staff position after summer.
The biggest thing is that it give me purpose to be in NYC again. the last months or so I have just been floating around which is amazingly frustrating. I mean I had a few small gigs on the weekend working for free but it is hard to see much meaning in that. fun maybe, meaningful not quite as much.
I still plan on trying for some crew jobs on the weekends or when I can. but most of all I need to make sure I keep writing and need to make my own projects happen becaaue it is way to easy to make films in New York for me to let that pass me by. Now I just need to write something that I like. Maybe that isn't a good plan because I'll just mess up a good story with bad filmmaking so maybe I should just bang out a few films to make some mistakes on.
Not having a job sucks and some days I just want to run into a wall until I knock myself out but other day are better and I'll work on a script or something more productive.
When to LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON tuesday march 24, had a blast. THE ROOTS are amazing best sound live I have heard to be honest. yeah there are 9 members but it sounds like 50. So good. I got a shirt out of the deal so i can't complain.
today I had some killer good pizza with another Reno-ite. Talia from my Gma's work is visiting. Had fun with her and now I'm off to an After Effects New York meeting where people who are much or tallented than me(www.videocopiolt.com) show off how talented they are haha
Here is a link to another video that I was Dirctor of Photography. I think it looks good and that was my job so, mission success.

also my final screening is tonight and I have another one on friday. I have some Canadian tv show that has asked to play my short film also. I applied for a few jobs as camera op. and have a few projects with some other students after graduation too. More on that stuff later
here is a quick run around tour of my new resting place in New York.
I shoot my final project this weekend, I pretty much had to direct this other guys project because he wanted to act in his own movie for some reason, but I enjoyed doing it and the actress said I was good at directing it. She pretty much realized that I was the guy running the show. So I did my best to give her chances and shots to shine, since the actors/actresses are working for nothing but stuff to add to their reel and if there isn't enough close ups then what good is that for a reel? Film making is a business so you got to keep that in mind too.
Pre-Production for my project has been a nightmare. I posted an ad for actors, got a lot of responses, I set up an audition date and no one came, zero. So that put me two days from shooting and I have no cast. I got one call from and actor saying sorry he couldn't make it and was hoping for another audition, BAM he got the part. The lead part was cast my Al my roommate when he asked a few friends, turns out my future roommate was free and interested in the part, BAM cast as the superhero. The last role is hopefully going to be played by a girl down the street who does some theater acting.
Now I just have to shoot it. I'm excited for it be over. Is that good? I'm sure it will be fine but I just wish I could have had one more week to plan this all out. Get some permits for nice locations, actually cast actors that kind of thing. The story is good, kinda funny but not hilarious. everyone will get to see it soon enough
Now I"m going to lay in bed and have nightmares about all the things that can go wrong on the set in the morning, that way I'm prepared for them.
it is my one satrurday that i don't have school. I have a small re-shoot(where I met Hugh Jackman[another story for another timef]) but the big thing is that I am going to wake up super early and stand in an line where hopefully I get a ticket to SNL(Saturday Niight Live, in case you live under a rock, or just not america) I get a standby ticket and thing hope that some people dont show up with real tickets for the live taping. it is a long shot but yeah you only live once right? Host:Steve Martin.
School is busy but i did have a short day this week. literally only 1 hour long where we screened our films. Mine apparetly casued quite a controversy becasue the teacher was saying the story was weak in the second half and then someone said he didn't know what he was talking about so the teacher said good luck on your finals and stormed off. Yikes. call me Oliver Stone I guess. I personally don't thing it came out to great but considering it was all done in 1 hour i like it. I'll post it later.
also I'm working on our project number 3 "Sound/music film" its all in the title so no more silent stuff. I have done enough videos where the pictures are cut to music so I went for doing a sound design where you add in all the sound effects since the film cameras don't record sound. I'll be the first to say it is a bitch matching footsteps and folding papers. I searched for about an hour for a song to use so I could give up on the sound design but nothing quite jumped out at me. So I noted a few but back to the sound effects. It is due Tuesday night so I'll post it sometime after that for the world to see. I might make a few changes once we screen it but hopefully it is kinda funny, far from hilarious but a few chuckles I hope. I lost a few minor shots to exposure and forgot to write in a few reations to the pranks but that is what i'm here for to make mistakes and learn from them.
Our writing teacher gave us the "when you get out of here you got two roads to take" talk, get inside the biz and work your way up slowly and painfully or get a crappy job and sweat/beg/barrow/steal to get your short films made and financed then you do it again until you start geting some notice at film festivals and maybe win an award. Wait for the call and have a few feature lenght scripts ready. either way it is a lot of hard work and fierce competion.
